Be My Valentine

Last night was the Teen Center Valentine's Day dance. Pasha was worried all week that she wouldn't be able to go with her being sick for a week. But it worked itself all out in the end :-)

Gestern Abend war der Teen Center Valentinstag Tanz. Pasha hat sich die ganze Woche Sorgen gemacht das sie nicht in der Lage sein würde daran teilzunehmen. Aber die ganze Sorge war umsonst :-)

She had a blast. Several boys went all googly-eyed (is that even a word?) over her! Good gosh, if this happens now what will happen in a couple of years? We will have to lock her up in her room :-)

Sie hatte soviel Spass. Ein paar Jungs haben sich in die Pasha verguckt. Meine Güte, wenn das jetzt schon passiert was wird dann erst in ein paar Jahren los sein? Wir werden sie in ihr Zimmer einsperren müssen... :-)

She can be so sweet... but then you turn around and her naughty side comes out :-)

Sie kann so Süß sein... aber dann dreht man sich um und ihre "Teufelshörner" kommen raus :-)

Curves Class - Week 1

As I told you a couple of weeks ago, I joined the curves class offered by Rachel Hauser from the stitched in color blog. Now that the first week has passed I can honestly tell you that I am loving this class.

The lecture on the first day cleared up a couple of "can't wrap my head around it" issues like 'concave'. I always had problems with it. But thanks to this class no more!

 I made two out of the three offered projects for this week.

First up was the banner. It was a very nice getting-used-to curves project:

Wie ich dir schon vor ein paar Wochen erzaehlt habe bin ich in dem Kurven Kurs. Nachdem jetzt die erste Woche vorbei ist kann ich dir ehrlich sagen das ich diesen Kurs liebe.

Die erste "Vorlesung" hat gleich ein paar Dinge geklaert und ich kann mir jetzt auch Konkav und Konvex merken!

Ich habe zwei der drei Projekte die diese Woche angeboten wurden gemacht.

Als erstes kam das Fahnenband.  Es war ein schoenes Kurven-kennen-lernen Projekt:

The second project that was offered were bibs. I don't have a use for bibs at  the moment so I didn't want to make them...

But the third project for the week was a clam shell pillow cover. I didn't have a zipper in the required size on hand and I wasn't really in the mood to make a pillow cover... so I decided that I would make a little wall hanging instead.

Das zweite Projekt das angeboten wurde waren Laetze. Da ich im moment wirklich keine Laetze brauche habe ich diese nicht gemacht.

Aber das dritte Projekt was ein Muschelkissen. Da ich aber keinen Reissverschluss in der angegebenen Groesse hatte und ich auch nicht wirklich Lust hatte ein Kissen zu naehen habe ich mich entschlossen es in einen Wandbehang umzuaendern.

I think I am going to hang this one up in my office... maybe :-) 

I am in the midst of Week 2 and hope to show you a picture of those finished projects soon!

Ich denke ich werde es in meinem Buero aufhaengen... vieleicht :-)

A whole lot of scraps!

I was asked several times to show how many scraps I actually have. Imagine one big moving box filled to the hilt with scraps like this:

Ich wurde mehrmals darum gebeten meine Stoffreste zu zeigen. Stell dir eine grosse Umzugskiste gefüllt bis obenhin mit Stoffresten wie diese hier:

Now imagine that amount times 2... okay, okay make that times 3... fine!... times 4! But that's all I am going to own up to! ;-)

Jetzt stell dir diese Menge mal 2 vor... okay, okay, mach das mal 3... fein!... mal 4! Aber das ist auch das meiste was ich zugeben würde! ;-)

What are scraps to me? Well, anything that is smaller than a fat quarter in size that are left overs from a project. 

Was sind für mich Reste? Na ja, alles das kleiner als ein Fat Quarter ist das übrig geblieben ist von einem bestimmten Projekt.

As you can see, I have plenty to make many many more scrap projects. I wonder how much of my scraps will be left over by the end of the year?

Wie du sehen kannst, ich habe genug um noch jede Menge von Restprojekten bis zum Ende des Jahres zu machen?

Swoon Along Update # 3

Happy Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine's Day. I have never been sure what to think about Valentine's Day. On one side it's pretty nice! I mean who doesn't like to get a little bit of extra attention from your significant other. I definitely do! But on the other side, it's also the day where the most hurt feelings are caused. I see it all the time... people who are waiting for flowers or chocolates or a card from their partner and end up getting nothing for whatever reason. In all honesty, I don't need Valentine's day. I am one of the lucky ones.. Martin makes me feel special every single day. And not just me, Pasha too!

Heute ist Valentinstag. Ich weiss nicht was ich von Valentinstag halten soll. Auf der einen Seite ist es ganz nett! Ich mein wer mag es nicht etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit von seinem Partner zu bekommen. Ich auf jeden Fall! Aber auf der anderen Seite ist es auch der Tag an dem viele traurig sind. Ich sehe es oft.... Leute die darauf warten das sie Blumen, oder Schokolade oder eine Karte kriegen und am Ende gar nichts bekommen fuer was auch immer einen Grund. Ich brauch wirklich keinen Valentinstag. Ich bin eine der Gluecklichen... Martin laesst mich jeden Tag wissen das ich etwas besonderes bin. Und nicht nur mich auch Pasha!

We both got gorgeous flowers and chocolates. But he also baked us some awesome oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (the best ever!) and he is making us a wonderful dinner.

Wir haben beide wunderschoene Blumen bekommen und unserer Lieblingsschokolade. Aber er hat uns auch tolle Schokolade - Haferflocken Kekse gebacken und macht uns ein klasse Abendessen.

Pasha (who is still sick and recovering in front of the TV LOL) loved it when Martin got on his knee presenting the flower and the chocolates to her asking her to be his Valentine. I told him that his future son-in-law is going to hate him because he set the bar so high :-)

Pasha (die immer noch krank ist und sich vor dem Fernseher erholt Grins!) fand es absolut toll das Martin vor ihr auf die Knie gefallen ist mit Rose und Schokolade in der Hand und sie gebeten hat sein Valentin zu sein. Ich hab ihm gesagt das sein zukuenftiger Schwiegersohn ihn hassen wird da er den Standard so hoch angesetzt hat :-)

Scrap Project # 1 - Update # 2

I was able to get some more blocks on my quilt-as-you-go quilt top:

Swoon Update #2

I am so glad that I joined this quilt along! The stars/flowers are breath taking!

Each block is about 24.5" big and takes about 2 hours to sew. The instructions are great. But I have to admit that it is a bit tedious to deal with so many pieces for just one block. It makes you slow down as you assemble it. Otherwise the seam ripper will be your best friend! Knock on wood... I haven't had to use it much yet! :-)

Ich bin so froh das ich bei diesem Quilt along mit mache. Die Sterne/Blumen sind atemberaubend!

Jeder Block ist ca. 24.5" gross und man braucht etwa 2 Stunden zum nähen. Die Anleitung ist super. Aber ich muss zugeben das es etwas lästig ist mit so vielen Teilen rum zu hantieren. Man muss sich etwas  bremsen während des zusammen nähen. Ansonsten ist der Nahtauftrenner dein bester Freund! Toi, Toi Toi... bis jetzt musste ich den noch nicht oft benutzen!
