Happy Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine's Day. I have never been sure what to think about Valentine's Day. On one side it's pretty nice! I mean who doesn't like to get a little bit of extra attention from your significant other. I definitely do! But on the other side, it's also the day where the most hurt feelings are caused. I see it all the time... people who are waiting for flowers or chocolates or a card from their partner and end up getting nothing for whatever reason. In all honesty, I don't need Valentine's day. I am one of the lucky ones.. Martin makes me feel special every single day. And not just me, Pasha too!

Heute ist Valentinstag. Ich weiss nicht was ich von Valentinstag halten soll. Auf der einen Seite ist es ganz nett! Ich mein wer mag es nicht etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit von seinem Partner zu bekommen. Ich auf jeden Fall! Aber auf der anderen Seite ist es auch der Tag an dem viele traurig sind. Ich sehe es oft.... Leute die darauf warten das sie Blumen, oder Schokolade oder eine Karte kriegen und am Ende gar nichts bekommen fuer was auch immer einen Grund. Ich brauch wirklich keinen Valentinstag. Ich bin eine der Gluecklichen... Martin laesst mich jeden Tag wissen das ich etwas besonderes bin. Und nicht nur mich auch Pasha!

We both got gorgeous flowers and chocolates. But he also baked us some awesome oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (the best ever!) and he is making us a wonderful dinner.

Wir haben beide wunderschoene Blumen bekommen und unserer Lieblingsschokolade. Aber er hat uns auch tolle Schokolade - Haferflocken Kekse gebacken und macht uns ein klasse Abendessen.

Pasha (who is still sick and recovering in front of the TV LOL) loved it when Martin got on his knee presenting the flower and the chocolates to her asking her to be his Valentine. I told him that his future son-in-law is going to hate him because he set the bar so high :-)

Pasha (die immer noch krank ist und sich vor dem Fernseher erholt Grins!) fand es absolut toll das Martin vor ihr auf die Knie gefallen ist mit Rose und Schokolade in der Hand und sie gebeten hat sein Valentin zu sein. Ich hab ihm gesagt das sein zukuenftiger Schwiegersohn ihn hassen wird da er den Standard so hoch angesetzt hat :-)

Scrap Project # 1 - Update # 2

I was able to get some more blocks on my quilt-as-you-go quilt top:

Swoon Update #2

I am so glad that I joined this quilt along! The stars/flowers are breath taking!

Each block is about 24.5" big and takes about 2 hours to sew. The instructions are great. But I have to admit that it is a bit tedious to deal with so many pieces for just one block. It makes you slow down as you assemble it. Otherwise the seam ripper will be your best friend! Knock on wood... I haven't had to use it much yet! :-)

Ich bin so froh das ich bei diesem Quilt along mit mache. Die Sterne/Blumen sind atemberaubend!

Jeder Block ist ca. 24.5" gross und man braucht etwa 2 Stunden zum nähen. Die Anleitung ist super. Aber ich muss zugeben das es etwas lästig ist mit so vielen Teilen rum zu hantieren. Man muss sich etwas  bremsen während des zusammen nähen. Ansonsten ist der Nahtauftrenner dein bester Freund! Toi, Toi Toi... bis jetzt musste ich den noch nicht oft benutzen!

An Easy Quilt

Quite a while ago I showed you this quilt top that I was working on. It is really easy... but it's been tough to get it done with my busy schedule. In fact it seems like I am getting side tracked by too many other 

projects :-) 

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich dier dieses Quilt Top an dem ich arbeitete gezeigt. Es ist wirklich einfach... aber es war schon schwer es fertig zu bekommen mit der wenigen Zeit die ich habe. Tatsächlich scheine ich ziemlich oft durch andere Projekte abgelenkt zu werden :-)

It resides on our small white couch in the living room. Every night I fold it up like so...

Es residiert auf unserer kleinen Couch im Wohnzimmer. Jede Nacht lege ich es so zusammen...

Pasha loves to wrap herself in this quilt. And for me its the proof that there is nothing more wonderful than to make a quilt that keeps the people that you love most warm!

Pasha liebt es sich in diesen Quilt einzupacken! Und für mich ist es ein Beweis das es nichts schöneres gibt als ein Quilt zu machen der die Menschen die man lieb hat warm hält!

I needed to "Swoon"

Have you seen the "Swoon" quilts that are being sewn right now in the quilt along? Aren't they gorgeous?

Hast du die "Swoon" Quilts gesehen die in dem Quilt-Along genaeht werden? Sind die nicht wunderschön?

It made me dig out the pattern that I had purchased back in October and start my own. 

Natürlich musste ich dann auch meine Anleitung (die ich im Oktober gekauft habe) raus suchen.

I am using the "Delilah" fabric from Tanya Whelan. This is what I have so far:

Curves Class

I know that as soon as I tell you about this, you'll think: "What? Doesn't she have already enough on her plate!" I know that I thought the same thing. But that didn't keep me from signing up for this curves class!

Ich weiss das sobald ich dir von dem hier erzähle, das du dir denken wirst: "Wie bitte? Hat sie nicht schon   genug zu tun?!" Ich hab ja das selbe gedacht. Aber das hat mich auch nicht davon abgehalten mich in diesen Kurs einzuschreiben!

I haven't sewn very many curves! I have never sewn a quilt with curves... actually I avoid them! I am excited to learn something completely new. Something that will really challenge me, make me face this odd fear and expand my repertoire of sewing.

Ich habe noch nicht sehr viele Kurven genäht! Ich habe noch nie einen Quilt mit Kurven genäht... tatsächlich versuche ich dies mit aller Macht zu vermeiden! Ich freue mich etwas komplett Neues zu lernen. Etwas das mich heraus fordert, das mich zwingt mich dieser komischen Angst zu stellen und mein Nähwissen zu erweitern.

I know that this class will suck up the rest of the free time that I have left over. But I also know that a.) this is something that I love to do  b.) it adds to my skill set and c.) it actually relaxes me!

Ich weiss das dieser Kurs den Rest meiner freien Zeit auffüllt. Aber ich weiss auch das a.) es etwas ist das ich liebe  b.) es mich bereichert und c.) es mich entspannt!

Of course I am going to show you the lovely projects I will be working on in this class. Maybe you'll want to sign up for this class the next time it comes around!

Natürlich werde ich dier zeigen an welchen Projekten ich in diesem Kurs arbeite. Vielleicht möchtest du dich ja dann auch für den nächsten Kurs eintragen!
