So I finally finished the table runner! It took me a while because I didn't know how to quilt it. I made it ultra hard on myself because I chose a black backing and a cream front.... hmmm, I would have to be really careful with how I quilt it because I didn't want the bobbin thread (which had to be black) show up on the front.
I knew free motion quilting was out of the question because I hate fiddling with the tension! So it had to be straight lines. I thought about simple lines front to back. But I didn't really like that. So I took the marking pen that you sent me (thank you so much!) and decided I would mark 1" squares on it.
I quilted it in two sessions of 30 minutes each since this is really boring quilting! And then I decided to take the plunge and put on my binding by machine! Thanks to you and your encouragement to just try it...
It wasn't that bad at all for my first try. I am a bit undecided if I will do it again though. The result isn't quite as "flawless" as I wanted it to be :-)
Here is the front:
And here is the back:
Let's take a closer look at the binding :-)
It's not so bad is it? But than take an even closer look:
Not something I like at all! So I went over the three 2" spaces by hand and it looks really good!
And then I noticed that when I put water with a Bounty sheet on the quilt top that some of the print from the Bounty sheet bled on my quilt top! Can you see it?
Here is a closer look!
I won't be doing that again! I told Martin that only white Bounty sheets would now be allowed at our house!
Overall you can't really tell. I probably will take a bleach pen and go over that little spot to make it even less noticeable...
It will definitely look nice on our Christmas table :-)
Take care,
Karin
The table runner turned out beautiful. And your binding turned out great. I did not know that they have red bounty sheets, lol.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you take lots of pictures during xmas to show me.
