A Satisfactory Ending

I thought about Martin's suggestion of appliquéing the letters separately on a piece of fabric and sewing it over the holes. I generally like that idea but I couldn't come up with an "idea" of how it would end up looking. I doodled quite a bit to see what I could come up with but the inspirational spark was just simply missing!

I also thought about your idea and I thought well, why not. Let's see if the glue would be covered completely. If so I would do it that way, if not I would do it Martin's way. I sat down to another round of tracing, ironing, and cutting. And in the end the letters fit in the same spot covering the glue and holes completely!

I thought about embroidering it a bit to fancy it up like you suggested... I had some embroidery floss ready to go and also some sparkly pearls but as I laid it out, I realized that I like the simplicity of it all. It isn't very flashy and it is exactly why I really like it. So I am leaving it as it is!

I think that's what I like about the holiday season. It's not the running around from one event to another, the stressful shopping for presents, the worry that you forgot someone. Nope, it is the walking downtown to see the lights at night, the drinking of hot cocoa in front of the tree, the extra hugs and kisses that I am getting, the letters and cards from people that I haven't had the chance to see all year, the letters and cards that I send out to tell people that I think of them often and that they are missed. The simple things mean the most!

Here is where I am stopping tonight:

It is ready for quilting. I might do that tomorrow :-)

Take care,
Me

  1. It turned out beautiful. Just like you said, the holidays are there to be with loved ones and even if you cannot be with everyone they are still with you in your thoughts. It’s the simple things and gestures what counts and are the most meaningful.
